Sun School of Klaipėda District – Education and Culture Complex

The project envisions an 8,000 m² building in the Klaipėda district, an area characterized by homestead-type development. A public center comprising a school and kindergarten has been designed and constructed to accommodate more than 700 pupils and preschool children. The L-shaped layout of the building creates a sheltered inner courtyard tailored to the needs of both preschool and general education, providing outdoor learning areas, sports fields, children’s playgrounds, outdoor classrooms, and spaces for open-air events.

Vivid architectural accents are echoed throughout the landscape, façades, and interior spaces. The primary idea behind the planned building is to visually and functionally divide the massing into four zones—preschool education, general education, community and event spaces, and sports and cultural activities. Between these four main volumes, the design integrates the principal entrances to the building, each supported by its own infrastructure, including lobbies, cloakrooms, sanitary facilities, and vertical circulation. The overall concept aims to create a harmonious environment that balances educational needs with a welcoming, community-oriented atmosphere, encouraging interaction, learning, and physical activity throughout the day.

The overall composition is further enhanced by a nearby landscaped square featuring small architectural elements, various installations, and recreational amenities, which together strengthen the overall visual and spatial experience of the site.
