Japandi inspired small apartment in Vilnius

The Origami Zen Apartment is located in a low rise residential building area surrounded by forests and tranquil environment. The main focus point was – and is – the view from the window into the oak and pine forest. The wish of a client was to implement this tranquility, this feeling of ZEN into the apartment itself. Furthermore, the pandemic has really changed the importance of the home for many of us. The client also saw the home as a place to work, to rest, to exercise, to invite friends, to meditate, to relax, to watch movies, to have a spa moment. How to fit all of this into 54 sq.m? The culture of Japan with its origami techniques, high-tech and peaceful mind was an answer. We divided the place into 5 main spaces: the corridor with a sense of flow, the office/wardrobe/yoga room/gym/guest room, the spa bathroom with a sauna installed in it, the main area with home cinema, kitchen, rising table to work or dine and the bedroom with nothing more in it except for a tatami bed. The smart way of dividing spaces creates a healthy and mindful everyday environment to live in. No clutter, no fuss, no rush. The sense of ZEN is also achieved with the natural materials: oak floor, plywood furniture, rise paper (shoji), micro cement and dry grass wallpapers. Atmospheric hidden lighting in ceilings and shoji paper partitions highlights the sense of cosiness and peace. The are also some important technologies installed to make the apartment even more comfortable and quiet: wi-fi blocking paint, hidden audio system and hidden acoustic panels in the ceilings to improve sound, automatic shades and curtains, ventilation system, smart lighting and a shower transforming into a little sauna. 54 japandi styled square meters for the quality living.
