Gastrobar Agnostikas in Klaipėda
Agnosticism (agnostos, „the unknown“) is a branch of philosophy that originated in ancient Greece, or the belief that the existence of God can neither be proved nor disproved. Among the adherents were Protogoras, Pyron, Carneades, Sextus Empiricus, and to some extent Socrates. This mystical atmosphere, linked to religion, ancient antiquity and philosophy, greets you in one of the old buildings on the banks of the River Danė, where the mysterious atmosphere is enhanced by the restored ancient masonry and the construction of the old wooden columns and beams. Modern projection technology is used to make Socrates speak and tell stories as he hovers over the main entrance, a DJ podium is set up in front of him in a stylised organ, and the ceiling is decorated with frescoes of paradisiacal elements. Soft furnishings and sun-shaped chandeliers designed by the interior designers give it a unique, symbolistic aura. The composition of luminous onyx stone and metal used in the bartending area is an allusion to the setting sun, which is the time to leave all work behind and come to rest, socialise. The bar’s main decoration is a giant chandelier designed especially for this bar. The whole interior idea is based on modern interpretations of religious and ancient elements, creating a mystical and symbolic mood.
